Green Economy Observatory «GEO»
Climate change today is the subject creating one of the major
interests among the government officials, think-tank
organisations, academia, industry and civil society around the
world. And as the debates about climate change adaptation and
mitigation heats up, major investments are taking place in green
technologies and in building environmental friendly
infrastructure.
There is a need to closely examine the ongoing notable shift
from high to low carbon and more sustainable economies. For this
purpose, the Green Economy Observatory (GEO) has jointly been
established by the Association for International and Comparative
Studies in Labour Law and Industrial Relations at Marco Biagi
Centre for International and Comparative Studies, University of
Modena e Reggio Emilia, Italy and ETECH Center in Karlsruhe,
Germany.
The Observatory aims to monitor current trends and short and
long term outlook in reference to:
-
The emergence of the green economy;
Impact of green economy on labour market - the shifting of jobs from traditional industry to green industry and the emergence of new occupations - the green collar jobs; -
Capacity building programs that are contributing in greening the human capital; and
-
The latest innovations in environmental sector that have the potential of playing a key role in our transformation to low carbon and more sustainable economy.
The Observatory contributes in creating a better understanding of green economy for policy makers, industry, labour market professionals, academic institutions and other relevant stakeholders.
The next Global Sustainable Finance Conference will be held from the 4th to 5th of July 2013 in Karlsruhe, Germany. If you are interested in attending this global gathering, please send an email.
